What’s the dilly?
When my husband and I were planning for the arrival of our first baby, we were filled with excitement. We couldn’t wait to design the perfect nursery. After searching and searching, we were shocked to realize that all the furniture looked like it was plastic. We had envisioned a crib that would become an heirloom adorned with beautiful bedding that we had never seen before. Surely there were more people that felt the same way. So, we decided to open our own baby and children’s boutique. First, we needed a name that meant something to us.
As a little girl, some of my favorite memories were spent with my great grandmother, Mama Dillie. Always greeted by a hug and a warm smile, Mama Dillie was a magnet to children and loved by everyone. Rocking in the metal glider on her front porch, she would wave at all the passing neighbors. Sunday dinners at Mama Dillie’s were filled with Gospel music playing in the background, the thick aroma of collard greens and fried chicken, and the anticipation of which fruit would be chilled in the Jello this week. She made futile attempts to teach me how to quilt where I learned to appreciate hard work with an end result of something beautiful, hand-made from the heart, and made to last.
So, in honor of Mama Dillie, dilly dally was born. Over ten years ago, we opened our doors with welcoming smiles, music playing in the background, and the highest quality, hand-made products we could find. We enjoy watching our customer’s families grow and are delighted to be a part of each step from designing the nursery all the way to the “big kid” room. Mama Dillie would be so proud to know that we now own a mom and pop that specializes in items made by hand in the U.S. that will last for years to come.
“We hope that you will enjoy shopping with us. Our mission is to bring you the most exquisite items we can find to fill your child’s world with lots of happy memories.”
